AOL and Citysearch have announced an agreement to bring more reach to each other's content and advertising, reports MediaPost.
On paper, deal envisions reciprocal seeding of content and ads across the companies' properties. But it primarily appears to involve AOL redistributing Citysearch's material.
User reviews, photos, videos and other content from Citysearch's online channels will be distributed via AOL's CityGuide, Local Search and MapQuest sites.
AOL will also provide outlets for Citysearch's pay-for-performance advertising, and integrate local advertising into those locally-focused sites. That, AOL says, increases the audience for those ads by about 57 million users a month.
No mention is made of what, if any, content or advertising will be flowing from AOL to Citysearch properties.
While financial terms were not disclosed, Citysearch CEO Jay Herratti says both parties will see revenue growth as a result of the deal.
