T-Mobile Sidekick sales

Microsoft has bought Danger Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

Danger developed the Sidekick mobile handset's Java-based software.

ZDNet opines the purchase may help boost Microsoft's Windows Mobile business. Windows Mobile runs phones from 50 device makers used by 160 mobile operators.

To boost its figures Microsoft has been signing new handset partners, the latest being Sony Ericsson. But Windows Mobile's worldwide market share remains significantly smaller than the iPhone's.
