Casual Gamers Give Relevant Ads the Go-Ahead

It's the laggage, not the ads,
that bother her.

A survey of 1,500 players on RealNetworks' RealGames site finds most casual gamers are willing to trade ad exposure for free game play.

This includes ads that appear before the game starts, or between levels.

34 percent of respondents said they click on ads to find out about the product being advertised. That same percentage prefers relevant ads, ranging from entertainment ads to home care and weight loss ads.

40 of the 550 games available on RealGames are ad-supported, but the number is rising, reports ClickZ. RealNetworks plans to participate in Google's AdSense for Games beta across its network of game sites.

RealNetworks' survey pool was 81 percent female and 65 percent male, aged 35 to 64.
