Video

  • Bloomberg is launching a series of video interviews with CEOs from around the world in order to spread its brand online, though a number of restrictions are in place that could limit its distribution.
  • CNNMoney too is looking to build out its online video, offering one or two original web videos a day of business world coverage. That is planned to eventually hit 15 or so videos a day.
  • ThePlatform.com will syndicate videos from online fitness hub ExerciseTV, broadening the reach of both its videos and the ads that support it.
  • E-tailers are finding that allowing people to submit video reviews of products it offers actually can help other shoppers, especially for items like toys and tools that people creating the videos can show themselves using or explaining.

  • Google and the Weather Channel have expanded their partnership, with Google now powering more of the channel's online offerings and Weather.com providing forecasts and information for Google Earch.
  • Revitalizing and improving the performance of its advertising business is really just one of the challenges facing Yahoo as it seeks to reclaim its dominance as people's starting place online.

New and Improved

  • MediaWhiz has taken AuctionAds and merged its features and functionality into the new and improved ShoppingAds.com, giving publishers in its programs a one-stop-shop.
  • A couple of new online videos focusing on celebrity gossip and fashion are part of a series of new programs being introduced by USA Today either for the web or TV.
  • A new company from the founder of Support.com and Tribe.net called Zynga is looking to introduce more casual games as Facebook applications that can be added to people's profiles.

IAC/Ask.com

  • Liberty Media has increased the stake it has in IAC/Interactive from 25 percent to 30 percent, buying 14 million shares of the newly reorganized company.
  • The soon-to-be spun-off Ticketmaster has purchased TicketsNow, which competes against StubHub, for $265 million.
  • In less positive news, a class-action lawsuit has been filed against Ask.com alleging the site failed to do enough to detect and act against click fraud.

Biz Buzz

  • Tremor Media has secured $11 million in a new round of venture capital funding that it will use to grow out its video ad network, which already reportedly reaches half of all online users.
  • Akamai, which until now has just powered online content delivery systems, is making moves that have lead to speculation it could start to serve advertising.
  • The digital operations of media agency BLM appear to have been a large factor in that shop's acquisition by advertising giant Havas.
