AP: Now with local
coverage
The Associated Press wants local news sites make money from their video content and has introduced new tools to help them do so, reports Mediaweek.
The AP is giving local TV stations, newspapers and radio stations the ability to upload their videos to the video player provided as part of the AP's Online Video Network.
Outlets can also include their own local ads, making the video more relevant for users and spreading advertiser reach at the same time.
Streaming volume has increased on sites the new tool has been tested on, according to the AP. And with more locally targeted content that's paired with locally relevant ads, the sites should begin to see increased revenue as well.
