The Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) trade group has upgraded its list of best practices for behavioral ad targeting.
The update addresses:
- Scope & enforcement
- Sensitive consumer characteristics
- Choice-enabling technologies
- Consumer education
- Standards for use of personally identifiable information
- Membership outreach
The proposed updates, submitted to NAI members for comment, build upon the Federal Trade Commission's recent "self-regulation" guidelines. Input will be actively sought through Q1 of 2008.
