This Season, More Use Yahoo! Mail than Gmail

2010 will be Gmail's breakout
year, says comScore

Despite Gmail's sleek Ajax-based interface and searchable member email, more are using Yahoo! Mail this holiday season.

According to TechCrunch, Yahoo! Mail gets some 240 million unique visitors to Gmail's 80 million.

Gmail got into the web-based email game in 2004. comScore says it will surpass Yahoo! Mail in November 2010.

While Yahoo! Mail's growth rate was 3.21 percent for the 12 months ending November 2010, Gmail's was 53.6 percent.

Microsoft's webmail offering wasn't involved in the rankings, due to a recent change in format: Microsoft Live Hotmail now allows users to log on from "Live" properties scattered all over the web, making it tougher to track.

Hotmail garnered some 47 million visitors in April before the switch to "Live."
