The British Monarchy has officially gone "new media" with the launch of a YouTube channel for the Queen, reports The Guardian.
The channel contains archival footage of Queen Elizabeth II and her family, including her first televised Christmas message from 1957. That classic broadcast is perchaed alongside a new message from the Queen Mother, expressing her Christmas hopes for everyone — particularly the marginalized — in the British Empire and elsewhere.
While the footage may not give Dramatic Chipmunk a run for its viral money, the channel is perceived as a way for the ancient institution to reach a younger crowd. 18 videos are currently contained on the channel, with more to be added in the coming months.
