Seeking bytes to eat
Web-based telephony company Ribbit has revealed details of its business, which hinges on a host of voice tools that can be embedded into websites.
With Ribbit, developers can build apps that send and receive calls. They can also transcribe voicemail into text, reports CNet.
Ribbit also created a switch that connects web-based calls to other phone networks, including VoIP service Skype.
Ribbit's service is already embedded into Salesforce.com. The tools allow users to keep a log of sales calls and view voice- and email.
The service's platform was built on Adobe technology, a relationship that may get complicated: In the near future, Adobe aspires to launch Flash-based voice capabilities.
Ribbit will launch a voice service for consumers next year.
