Ads-Click makes the
transformation easy
Though Beacon's plans were foiled, a company called Ads-Click has launched a new Facebook app with a similar premise.
In this case, members are invited to embed ads onto their profiles. When friends click on the sponsored messages, the profile owner gets an 80 percent cut.
Dubbed MicroSocialAds, the app inserts targeted, contextual texts from a pool of 200,000 advertisers. Ads are designed to be unobtrusive, appearing as a line of text no more than 35 characters long.
When users add the app, text ads begin appearing on their Facebook pages and in the news feed.
In addition to Facebook, MicroSocialAds work with MSN Messenger, and soon, Yahoo IM, Skype, and OpenSocial.
