AOL has signed a deal to distribute online videos from cable networks owned by MTV, reports MediaPost.
The deal will feed videos from MTV, Comedy Central and other MTV properties into AOL Video. It is the latest to send MTVN video content far and wide on the web. Similar deals are already in place with Joost and Bebo.
For its part, AOL aspires to establish itself as a central point for those seeking the easy pleasures of online video. It also hosts video from Hulu, ABC and other outlets.
TV networks and alternative content creators have apparently embraced the notion that online distribution deals bring in more viewers, even if they reduce page views to networks' main sites.
