A Wii Ware screen
Nintendo is teaming up with Japanese telecom NTT to promote broadband access on the Wii gaming console.
Like the Xbox 360, Nintendo allows gamers to download retro and other types of casual games through its Wii Ware service.
NTT is using the Wii to help boost its fiber optic service in Japan, reports Reuters. It provides a low-priced startup package for subscribers, on-site set-up, and has opened call centers for support on Wii's internet connection.
Nintendo has sold over 13.2 million Wiis since September's end.
Having served 6.1 million fiber optic subscribers as of March 2007, DTT is aiming for 20 million by the end of March 2011.
