Latino-Focused Tr3s to Launch Mobile Social Network

MTV is launching a mobile social network for its Latino youth-focused channel MTV Tr3s, called Con3xion, in mid-December.

MTV Tr3s' mobile channel saw 60 percent growth in mobile video streams every month in the past quarter, reports AdWeek.

According to MTVN, 63 percent of Hispanics own a media-capable mobile phone, compared with 46 percent of non-Latinos. 23 percent of Latinos are more likely to watch video content on it.

San Diego-based mobile social networking company Intercasting will provide its Anthem platform to create a simple interface for users to "view photos, send and receive messages, post comments and search profiles."

Plans are in the works to ultimately extend Con3exion to the web.
