New York Daily News Joins Yahoo Classified Network

Yahoo has added The New York Daily News to its consortium of newspaper partners.

The Daily News joins papers from Hearst, Scripps and other publishers that joined the Yahoo network early on. As the fifth largest paper in the US, it instantly becomes the largest single paper in the consortium.

The paper is reportedly interested in the opportunities Yahoo can provide to extend the reach of ads it sells to Yahoo's portal.

Papers in the Yahoo consortium have the ability to sell inventory on Yahoo's network. Yahoo will also create a network of papers upon which to sell advertising.

Just days ago, news came out that a group of parent companies for major print publications may try to build their own ad network. If successful, the force would compete directly with Yahoo's print coalition, which has little to offer besides exposure to its portals.
