The United States Senate has approved a seven-year extension for the moratorium on the taxation of online purchases, reports The Associated Press.
The original moratorium, passed in 1998, is set to expire November 1st. But both the House of Representatives and the Senate have passed extensions.
The House version will only last another four years, and the difference between the two measures will need ironing out.
Some in the Senate pushed to make the moratorium permanent but the notion did not receive enough support to become reality.
