Thanks to exclusive rights to the iPhone and "terrific progress" with the U-Verse high speed service, AT&T revenues have nearly doubled in the third quarter to $30.1 billion, up from $15.6 billion a year ago.
Mobile Inroads
In Q3, AT&T gained 2 million mobile customers, bringing total subscribers to 65.7 million, and "representing a growth of 46.8 percent," the highest increase in its history, according to paidContent.org.
Revenues from mobile data services also jumped 63.9 percent in Q3 from last year.
I Want My IPTV
U-Verse IPTV service enjoys 10,000 new subscribers a week, bringing total subscribers to 126,000. Combined with its resale offering of satellite-based TV broadcast service, "total video connections grew by 215,000 to 2.1 million in Q3."
Broadband Swells
Total broadband services — DSL U-Verse high speed, and satellite broadband — grew by 499,000 users this quarter, reaching 13.8 million total, up 2.2 million, or 18.6 percent, from last year.
