For its iPhone, Apple has announced it will begin supporting third-party programs, following in the footsteps of Facebook and MySpace.
Rumors that Apple may avail its phone to outside developer apps began just days ago.
The Financial Times points out this move makes sense since businesspeople depend on smart phones, and the iPhone lacks key applications, such as "contact management and other business software."
Apple CEO Steve Jobs plans on releasing a software toolkit for aspiring iPhone developers in February.
