Imaginova Sets Sights on Comics

Curiouser and curiouser

Imaginova Corp. has announced its acquisition of Newsarama, a property of record amongst the global comic book community.

CEO Dan Stone called the move significant, marking Imaginova's foray into genre entertainment.

Stone added that Newsarama would help create "another extraordinary vehicle for national brand advertisers who are looking to reach our core demographic" — that is, tech-savvy audiences much at home in the digital megaverse, reports MediaPost.

The "intellectually curious market" was sized at 60 million — or 40 percent — of adults between ages 18 and 54, according to an OMD study in 2006.
Imaginova expects to generate $30 million in revenues by year's end, with the help of advertising and e-commerce.

Newsarama joins LiveScience.com, Space.com, Aviation.com and SpaceNews.com in the Imaginova suite.
