Nielsen: Teens Want Their MySpace, and Facebook Too

A little from one, a little from another...

Apparently having cake, and eating it too, can help the cake more than hurt it.
Teens on both Facebook and MySpace use each site far more than others use one or the other, reports Mediaweek.

The findings come from a new study by Nielsen/NetRatings. Young people between ages 12-17 who are registered on both social networks use each one more frequently than kids who use just one of them.

Dual-platform users spent 26 percent more time on Facebook, and 20 percent more time on MySpace, than their single-platform peers. That adds up to 93 more minutes than average on Facebook and 398 more minutes on MySpace.

Where a person used one or the other, or both, depended largely on where their friends were. The study reflected that following and interacting with friends trumps brand loyalty to one network.
