AOL Moves to the Big Apple; Creates Multi-Platform Entity

Washington Square Park

AOL is moving its corporate headquarters from Reston, VA to swanky Greenwich Village, located in Manhattan.

The move is another sign that AOL is shifting its business focus from ISP to ad sales. Those who move will join 400 AOL employees already working in New York.

The transition will also see the creation of Platform A, a new entity intended to make good use of AOL's new holdings, including Third Screen Media and Tacoda, to implement multi-platform campaigns, according to CNN.

AOL would not say how many jobs would be adversely affected by the move. However, the company cut a quarter of its workforce - 5,000 employees - last month.
