CBS Takes Stake in Online Talent Show

CBS' syndication unit has taken a stake in an online talent search show, reports Variety.

CBS Television Distribution now owns 50 percent of online talent search show "Big Shot."

Under the deal, CBS will distribute the show to the websites of its TV stations. It will also send it out via the CBS Audience Network online distribution channel. That channel's content is, under an array of other agreements, picked up on a varity of online video sites.

Producers of "Big Shot" approached CBS about a distribution deal earlier this year, but CBS decided to go all-in with a stake in the show. The network's involvement had one big impact - the show was set to debut in September, but will now be pushed back to January, 2008.
