Good doing Business with you
Business.com has sold to RH Donnelley for $345 million, nearly 47 times the $7.5 million it was originally bought for in 1999.
Other bidders vying for the well-named - and well-connected - directory included Dow Jones and The New York Times, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Business.com, which was expected to fetch at least $400 million, is a paper and online business search directory that also provides directories under AT&T, Embarq and Dex labels in about 24 states. The purchase, which also includes Work.com, is an appropriate fit for Donnelly, itself a directory and online local commercial search company.
Business.com has 100 members on staff and over 6,000 advertisers.
