The Motion Picture Association of America has voiced concern to the FCC's Notice of Inquiry for network neutrality, stating that neutrality might bring an end to content filtering technologies that prevent piracy, reports Ars Technica.

Technologies the MPAA wrung its hands over include digital watermarking, deep packet inspection, acoustic fingerprinting and filtering.

In its comment, the MPAA admitted it had difficulty understanding exactly what is meant by the term "network neutrality," as there were a range of discussions all grouped beneath it.

The Inquiry netted an astounding 27,000 comments.
