Even gamers aren't safe
Google is planning to apply lessons learned from the web to build its in-game advertising efforts, reports The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
The company is planning an "AdSense for Games" product that will bring the same ad buying process to games currently in place online.
The system connects game publishers with advertisers, and pay those publishers accordingly. It will begin with online games but could then expand to PC and console games.
The program would finally bring to fruition what was expected after Google acquired AdScape earlier this year. The ads are reportedly going to be both text and video-based, but there's no set date of delivery.
Adding ads like this could help many smaller game publishers who don't have the infrastructure to sell ads themselves.
