WPP Purchases Refinery (No, Not that Kind of Refinery)

WPP Group has announced the purchase of interactive agency Refinery, reports MediaWeek.

The operations of the agency will be folded into the G2 Interactive division of Grey, a division which focuses on digital planning and execution.
The acquisition is just the latest in a series conducted by WPP, as well as the rest of the industry. Smaller shops have been scooped up by larger agencies seeking to build digital offerings quickly to meet client demand.

Refinery was founded in 1995 and currently has a number of high-profile clients, including Merck and Merrill Lynch. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
