AOL is in the process of overhauling its news portal (aol.news.com), taking note of popular blogs around the Web to do so, reports Reuters.
In testing, the new portal will be aesthetically uncluttered and will tout social features such as polls, voting and user-created news on one page. Similar features will become part of AOL's sports site as well.
The new look will split content into three columns. The center is dedicated to original content, the right column to wire feeds and AOL News bloggers, and the left to user-submitted news and interactive features.
AOL News traffic fell 12 percent to 19.1 million in May, while Yahoo News' traffic rose 8 percent to 33.7 million.
