ESPN Launches Cross-Media Creation Unit

Home base for ESPN

ESPN has announced a new division devoted to creating content for distribution across multiple platforms, reports MediaWeek.

The new Content Development and Enterprises division will create programming and other content for mobile, web, print and radio usage, as well as TV.

The division replaces ESPN Original Entertainment as the sports brand looks beyond the television to other platforms. It will be headed by Keith Clinkscales, who currently heads ESPN Publishing and ESPN the Magazine.

ESPN also promoted John Zehr to SVP of digital media production and named Rob King editor and chief of ESPN.com.

Executive VP John Skipper says all these changes are representative of ESPN's commitment to multi-platform thinking when it comes to content creation and execution.
