Digg Outshines Facebook with 1,400% Growth

Recent data compiled by Compete reports that Digg has overshadowed social networking site Facebook with over 22.6 million unique visitors and a growth rate of 1400 percent in one year.

Facebook still boasts the lion's share of page views, with 11 billion to 250 million at Digg, but the breadth of the latter's unique visitors suggests more people visit the social news site than Facebook.

March 2007 stats from Kevin Rose of Digg reported one million registered users, so if Compete's information is correct then there are 22 uniques to each registered user.

This suggests that the vast majority of Digg visitors are not registered community members, which in turn may mean that the once techie-strong site has succeeded in breaking into mainstream salience.
