Anticipating steady growth in gaming, Disney intends to triple the amount of money it spends on game development, reports Next Generation.
Over the next five years, Disney will boost annual game spending to around $350 million. The move is inspired from new research from Screen Digest that predicts that the global gaming software market will expand to $21.3 billion by 2009.
The majority of the money will go toward expanding established content franchises. Currently, the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End game has helped it secure its first No. 1 on the UK game charts ever.
A massive multiplayer online game about the franchise is in the works.
