Hearst Newspapers is in the process of building a sales center made possible by the publisher's deal with Yahoo's HotJobs, reports ClickZ.
The sales center would take a proactive approach and reach out to those who might be interested in listing employee openings on HotJobs. The location will be staffed by 30 sales people tasked with selling the ads instead of just waiting for listings to come to them.
The partnership between Yahoo and its consortium of newspaper publishers will grow deeper in other ways this year as well. Content from partner papers will begin to appear on Yahoo pages.
Ads served up on the paper's websites through Yahoo's Panama won't begin to appear until 2008, though. Yahoo expects the consolidated inventory offering will make for a better buying experience and be a boon to newspapers who might otherwise have missed out on revenue opportunities.
