Online fashion retailer YOOX is building a new e-commerce platform it hopes will be adopted by other apparel companies, reports Internet Retailer.
YOOX Services, a newly created internal unit of YOOX, will market its e-commerce solution first to retailers in Italy, where it is based. After that it hopes to expand the reach to other countries. It has already signed Italian clothing seller Marni.com, who is using the platform for U.S. sales, and says it has two more deals that will be announced before the end of the year.
YOOX charges a setup fee, then takes a percentage of sales conducted through its platform. In addition to e-commerce it also offers fulfillment, order management and other services on the order chain.
