Salesforce, Google Partner for Online Ad Sales

After a period of some speculation, Salesforce and Google have announced just how they plan to work together, reports The Washington Post.

Despite predictions that Google would integrate Salesforce.com's online applications into its own suite of products, the finalized deal falls short of that. Under the partnership, Salesforce.com will allow its corporate customers to distribute their ads through Google. Salesforce's own websites will continue to be ad-free, as the company will continue to pursue its subscription payment model for revenue.

Google is offering new customers signing up through Salesforce a $50 advertising credit. Salesforce CEO Marck Benioff believes online applications are the future of computing and has long railed against clunky software such as those offered by Microsoft. Google, of course, offers free web-based word processing and spreadsheet programs that directly compete against Microsoft's full-featured products.
