MySpace & Burnett to Launch Political Show

Best known for "Survivor," reality TV guru Mark Burnett is teaming up with MySpace to launch an interactive online/TV series aimed at shaking up the looming U.S. election, according to AdWeek.

The show, "Independent," will start in early 2008. Contestants interested in becoming America's "next great politician" will be asked to declare their candidacy through a video uploaded to MySpace. Users would then vote on the "candidate" based on the video and his/her profile.

The winner will receive $1 million that he or she must donate to a political cause or to his or her own campaign.

This isn't the first online-TV reality project Burnett has worked on. Last September, he teamed up with AOL to launch "Gold Rush."
