DoubleClick Snatched - Others Could Be Next

Both aQuantitive and ValueClick could be attractive acquisition targets in the wake of Google's purchase of DoubleClick, according to BloggingStocks. Such speculation sent aQuantive shares up roughly ten percent in Monday's trading. ValueClick saw a smaller, roughly three percent, gain in the same time frame.

The two display advertising servers could be targeted by any number of suitors, including Microsoft, which lost the DoubleClick bidding war. Both companies are and have been profitable, largely because of constant and constantly increasing competition. Purchasing one of them could quickly increase Microsoft's online ad presence.
