Yahoo Adds Four to Publisher Consortium

Reports that newspaper publisher McClatchy would be joining others in a consortium with Yahoo have now been confirmed, reports the Associated Press.

McClatchy is just one of four publishers that have newly joined a previously announced group that will use Yahoo to sell online ads. Media General Inc., Morris Communications and Paddock Publications have also newly joined.

The consortium was originally created around the integration of Yahoo's HotJobs onto newspaper sites but talks have expanded beyond that. The 264 newspaper websites covered under the agreement will use Yahoo for web search.

McClatchy will not take part in the HotJobs portion of the deal and will retain its stake in CareerBuilder, which it co-owns with Tribune Co. and Gannett.
