Mobile Virtual Network Operator Amp'd Mobile announced that the number of its subscribers is approaching the 200,000 mark, and that they constitute a prized demographic (via PSFK).
Touting a solid retail distribution network, the MVNO had 84,000 new activations in the first quarter of 2007 with subscribers spending an average of $100 per month on services, nearly twice the industry average of $54.
Half of the company's revenue is from content versus the industry average of approximately 25 percent. Amp'd users consumed more than four million videos, songs and mobile games in the first quarter of 2007, doubling the Q4 2006 figure of two million, with a total of more than six million downloads to date.
In addition, Amp'd Mobile subscribers are downloading more over-the-air music downloads than ringtones, making Amp'd the only known North American wireless operator to achieve that distinction, Amp'd said.
