Google Files In-Game Ad Targeting Patent

Google has filed a patent for in-game ads that will allow it to track player activity and target players by interest and other criteria, reports WebProNews.
Tracking player activity would allow Google to deliver relevant ads. So someone who drives a certain type or style of car may see an ad for that type or style of car.

According to the patent, that information would be gathered throughout the playing cycle, from registration onward, SEO by the SEA reports. That includes player selection of the type of character they play, the type of car they drive and other experiential choices. Some potential ads may solicit feedback from the player, providing advertisers with real-time responses.

The platform might also deliver ads for food or drinks if the player has been playing for an extended period and might be considering taking a snack break.

Google recently purchased AdScape Media, but the patent filing shows the company has a multi-pronged in-game ad approach and won't rely solely on AdScape's technology.
