MySpace has filed an anti-spam lawsuit against Sanford Wallace, better known as the "King of Spam." The lawsuit was filed Tuesday, charging Wallace with violations of state and federal anti-spam and anti-phishing statutes, Digital Media Wire reports.
AOL has also sued Wallace, as have others; and he was forced to pay $4 million to settle a suit brought by the Federal Trade Commission.
MySpace alleges in the lawsuit that Wallace initiated a phishing scheme on MySpace in October of 2006. MySpace claims that Wallace attempted to gain unauthorized access to users' accounts and created false profiles, groups and forums to direct users to his websites.
Wallace is also accused of having posting thousands of unwanted ads on MySpace promoting his sites.
