MTVN Merges SpikeTV and iFilm

Seeking to combine the strong SpikeTV brand name and iFilm's position as a web video destination, MTVN has announced that it will merge the two, reports PaidContent.
The new entity will sport the SpikeTV brand and be housed on the network's website. It's unclear from either the reports or the accompanying press release what will become of the iFilm name.

The Spike TV network has an audience that skews young and male, but the website doesn't get much traffic, which could change if it's to house iFilm videos.

The new unit will be headed by SVP-Digital Media Erik Flannigan. Blair Harrison will step down as CEO of iFilm; his future with Viacom remains unclear.
