More Details Emerge on Sony's New Virtual World

Details on privacy and the user experience have arisen about the Sony Playstation 3's new virtual world, "Home," set to be released for free in the fall, according to Joystiq (via MTV News).

Home initially will start with apartments for users, then go on to outdoors, houses, gardens and neighborhoods. A search function will be included to help users find their friends online, and Sony is also exploring the possibility of moving the online avatar into real games.

Also, no collision detection will likely be implemented, so users would just walk through one another. While that should eliminate problems associated with crowds, it also reduces the options for those who might wish to use their avatars for naughtier purposes.

"Public" spaces, like lobbies and the outdoors, will be monitored; whole "private" spaces such as apartments won't be, but complaints can be filed in the event of inappropriate behavior.
