Several major studios and TV networks are partnering with peer-to-peer file-sharing network BitTorrent to sell and rent encrypted video content to subscribers. The e-commerce venture will come with several restrictions insisted upon by the studios and networks, BroadcastNewsroom reports. The downloadable files will be protected with Microsoft's digital-rights-management software, embedded into the Windows Media Player. The files can only be played on a single computer with either Windows XP or Vista installed

 Movie rentals will be available for $3.99 for new releases, and $2.99 for older releases. The rentals are viewable for 30 days and expire 24 hours after someone starts viewing them. TV shows and music videos are available for purchase for $1.99 each.
