MTVN, Vice Launch Young-Male Internet TV Channel with Brightcove

The Cute Show on Vice TV

Geared toward the 18-34 male demo, a compelling new internet TV channel launched last week, partnering with the Brightcove internet TV service, according to the company's blog (via PSFK).
Named Vice TV, the channel is a joint venture between Vice Magazine and MTV Networks. Unencumbered by the packaging restraints of broadcast TV, the content is described as "edgy and raw."

In addition to new shows in the same vein as the hipster-centric Vice Magazine, the newly minted TV station offers viral features to its content, such as sending to a friend and blogging videos - giving some competition to other video content destinations, such as Bud.tv, aimed at the 18-34 male demographic.

Brightcove hints at the potential for interactive capabilities in its videos, which "provide immersive experience that introduce new metaphors for browsing and watching."

In both cases, Vice TV is tapping Brightcove's open APIs to explore new user-interface metaphors for internet TV.
