Microsoft is preparing to relaunch its free web email service and will keep the "Hotmail" name, despite earlier plans to rename it Windows Live Mail. The revamped web email service will now be called Windows Live Hotmail, CNET reports. Microsoft is attempting to make the rebranded email service more appealing to current Hotmail users.
Microsoft has incorporated some of the features of the original Hotmail service back into the revamped version. The software company has also added a "classic" theme that is similar to the original view for Hotmail. The classic theme has also been made the default view, and users must specify whether they wish to change it.
Windows Live Hotmail is still in beta, except in the Netherlands, where it was launched in November. When it officially launches later this year, new users can choose either a hotmail.com or a live.com email address.
