Verizon Wireless is expected to announce that it will offer its mobile subscribers full-length programming from NBC, CBS, Fox and MTV. ESPN is also in negotiations to offer programs, reports the New York Times.

The network TV programs would be among the first full-length TV shows to be offered to mobile subscribers in the States. In Europe, such programming is more widely available.

Media companies will receive a fee based on consumer subscriptions.

In the deal, Verizon is joining with MediaFLO U.S.A., a subsidiary of Qualcomm that has created technology to transmit high-resolution video through its own dedicated network. MediaFLO's quality rivals European and Asian standards, media executives say.
