As publishers resolve to slim down the high cost of maintaining slippery circulation figures, more magazines can be expected to close in 2007.
In 2006, some 22 titles were axed, writes MediaWeek (via MediaBuyerPlanner), and more closings are likely on the way. Magazines will also shrink their rate bases, as Time and Woman's Day are doing, while others may convert to online-only formats, as Elle Girl and Teen People have done.
Integration of online and print operations will also be a big story in 2007, with more publishers selling "the brand" rather than a single medium.
