Mobile YouTube is finally here, at least if you are a subscriber to Verizon Wireless V-Cast, a $15 a month video and music service.
The two companies have entered into a partnership that will allow Verizon's V-Cast subscribers access to some of YouTube's content, The New York Times reports. The service will feature only videos that both companies have approved; no details are available on how many videos will be available.
YouTube cofounder Steve Chen said the company's eventual goal is to make sure all cell-phone owners have access to the site's videos, and wouldn't say how long the exclusive agreement with Verizon would last, the Mercury News reports.
"The great thing about the emerging new phones, they all come with the ability to take pictures and video at the same time," Chen is quoted as saying. "Now everybody with a cell phone in their pocket will be able to upload it without going back to their computers."
