Hoping to tap into the offline talent show popularity of shows like Fox's American Idol and NBC's America's Got Talent, Yahoo has created an online version, called the Yahoo Talent Show.
The Yahoo Talent Show will run over eight weeks, letting users submit videos of their performances, with the chance of having their videos finding a permanent place on Yahoo, MediaWeek reports. To help with the creation of Yahoo Talent Show, Yahoo has turned to production company Embassy Row, headed by producer Michael Davies, who has experience working on ABC's reality series Wife Swap and Yahoo's technology makeover series Hook Me Up.
Users can submit their videos Oct. 23-Nov. 27. Beginning on Nov. 13, viewers can watch a daily selection of the best-rated clips. Viewers can watch and vote on their favorite videos through Dec. 4; the show will be hosted by former E! and MTV face Mayleen Ramey.
Five finalists will be selected to compete in a series of "creative video challenges," with the winner getting $50,000 in cash and a deal to produce his/her own show on Yahoo.
