Some 17 percent of U.S. adults are console gamers, and they consume an above-average amount of media, according to a Universal McCann study.
Adult console gamers on average spend about two hours a week online - more than the national average, writes MediaPost, citing the results of the UM study. Gamers are also 15 percent more likely to remember the name of the last brand product they saw on TV or in movies, 69 percent more likely to consider buying that product, and 40 percent more likely to have bought it.
Gamers spend an hour more than average watching DVDs each week, and they don't tend to mind product placement in movies and TV. They are also 57 percent more likely to be the first among their friends to visit a new store.
