MTV Wants Its YouTube - and Multiplatform Upfront Deal

Speaking at the CTAM Summit in Boston, MTV's president hinted at some upcoming digital-media-related announcements by MTV Networks.

Discussing how MTV Networks has adapted to a multiplatform environment, Judy McGrath said MTV wants to launch a global service similar to YouTube, AdAge reports. Citing the exponential growth of user-generated content, she is quoted as saying YouTube has created a "new definition of social video" - and because "video is our expertise," MTV is "looking at acquisitions and builders."

Apparently, a suite of broadband channels will also be launched in the next couple weeks, and another multi-platform upfront deal, like the one between MTV Networks and media agency OMD, is also imminent.
