JibJab Media has received an initial round of funding from Polaris Venture Partners, reports paidContent. No details are available about the amount of the investment, but it will reportedly be used to "significantly expand" original comedy programming on the JokeBox social-networking site.
The intent regarding JokeBox is to "build a comedy network that extends beyond the browser to mobile devices and, ultimately, IPTV," JibJab cofounder and CEO Gregg Spiridellis is quoted by paidContent's Staci Kramer as saying.
Polaris founder and managing partner Jon Flint is joining the JibJab board.
